Pastoral Care

One of our greatest assets at Pembroke House is the depth of our pastoral care. We are justifiably proud of our secure, extended-family atmosphere. We build on the principals of happy home foundations, and aim to further enrich their young lives and build confidence. Our children develop excellent relationships with adults as well as their own peers, with our older pupils actively looking out for the younger ones.

Each child is cared for by teachers, as well as live-in house-parents and assistants, ensuring adult support is fully accessible 24-hours a day. When they become seniors in charge of their own dormitories they develop a sense of responsibility, learn compassion and build leadership qualities.

We are first and foremost a full-time boarding school, but we do have a flexible approach to boarding options to suit our parents. Consistent with our boarding philosophy, every pupil, even if they attend daily, is given a bed in dormitories, ensuring that every child remains an integral part of the Pembroke family. We have been a boarding school for the past 80 years and have developed a system and routine which adapts with the times, and remains unique and successful.

Pupils come to Pembroke House from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and even further afield, joining the school at any age between 6 & 13 years. Our extensive extra-curricular activity programme provides a full and interesting educational experience for children throughout the week and at the weekends.
