Letter from the Headmistress
11/05/10
The first two weeks of term have gone smoothly and we are now well into the swing of preparing the Year 8s for their CE exams. The exams start on Monday 7th June. At the same time the rest of the school will be sitting their ‘end of year
exams’. The 1st Rugby Team were pleased with their performances last week v Ruzawi and at the Hillcrest 12 a side tournament. It is early in the season and there is still much to do but all the boys are clearly pleased that the Rugby season is with us once again. The 1st Netball Team lost by one goal v Turi and Lou Foxton and Hannah Bird were very pleased with the girls’ first performance of the term. Unfortunately the under 11 Netball Team could not play since it
rained but the Under 11 Rugby team recorded a convincing win.
This week we play Kenton on Wednesday and The Banda at home on Saturday. The Under 9s are also extremely excited with their first triangiular fixture coming up on Thursday.
Friday evening will see an informal children’s Jazz evening at the Club and you are all most welcome.
This weekend there is a ‘Golf Day’ at the Club on Sunday morning. We would like fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts and so on to make up teams with the children. It is a fun 9 hole competition organised by Rob Harte and of course there will be lunch at the Club afterwards. Please let MJ or Rob Harte know if you can join us. Whilst on the subject of parent child teams we have the Widgery Cup at the end of term. This is a doubles tennis competition and again we would like as many teams as possible to take part. The competition will be held on the last Friday of term and there will be the usual curry lunch for everyone down on the playing fields by the tennis courts.
For your information, the new website is up and running. We are going to try and update daily so please keep looking at it.
Our Pembroke House ski Trip is now up and running and I attach the details for your consideration. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to be included in the trip.
