Activities & Clubs
Our secure, spacious, rural setting provides pupils with a multitude of opportunities to explore and develop interests.
The time and space which a boarding environment allows means that each child enjoys a diverse extra-curricular programme and they are encouraged to make the most of this during the week as well as at weekends.
As every Pembroke pupil knows, Saturday mornings is a very special time, as time is set aside for Extras. Each term every pupil chooses an activity that they would like to take part in outside of their regular curriculum. The choice varies each term and includes:

One of our most enduring and popular extra-curricular activities is the ‘chai and chapati club', which gives the children the opportunity to camp and cook in the school's forestry area. Children are also allowed to bring bicycles to Pembroke, as well as their own ponies. Early morning rides in the area are something which many pupils say was one of the highlights of their Pembroke experience. Riding safaris are a treat for the older pupils. Horse-riding is a popular extra and the school has its own ponies, as well as many more borrowed during the term. A riding display is often one of the many activities at Pembroke's busy and social open days.
Weekend activities are plenty and include sailing on nearby Lake Naivasha, as well as exploring local landmarks such as Mount Longonot, Hell's Gate National Park and viewing at close quarters the fascinating geo-thermal activity of the Rift Valley.
Although never at a loss for something to occupy their time, we are also highly aware of how important it is that our pupils are able to enjoy plenty of ‘child time’. We make sure that every child is given plenty of time to relax – to simply be a child and enjoy interacting with their friends.
