Drama is a part of school life for pupils of all ages, as an integral part
of the curriculum and as an additional activity.
We have a specalist Drama teacher and all middle and senior school pupils
have one timetabled lesson of Drama each week. These sessions help children
to build confidence, articulate ideas and develop creativity.
Drama in the Lower School comes in as a natural part of lessons and in class
assemblies and during role play. It is a fun way to learn and the communication
skills that Drama teaches are invaluable for all the children.
Pupils can sign up for LAMDA sessions. These are paid extras where the children
work towards an exam under the tuition of a professional LAMDA teacher.
There is also a Drama Club, held on Saturday mornings. Here, the children get
the opportunity to work in smaller groups and invent fun and creative
improvisations.
Many of these sketches may be seen on Entertainment Night, which is held
at the end of the School Year. This evening is a highlight for many of the
children. There will always be a tremendous variety of talent on offer,
from singing and dance to hilarious sketches.
At the end of the Michaelmas term the Junior School produces a Nativity
and at the end of the Trinity Term the senior school stages it's own show.
This year will be 'Oliver', and we all look forward to seeing it at school
as well as on tour.
