Discovering and Growing in Academics
Following the British Curriculum, the academic programme at Pembroke House helps pupils to study effectively and fulfill their potential. We encourage our pupils to develop their minds, whilst becoming independent, self-reliant, well-rounded members of society. We achieve this through:
- Employing talented, capable teachers
- Small class sizes
- High academic standards
- Creating a lively, stimulating learning environment
During a recent visit, the Chairman of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) remarked that Pembroke House is indeed a ‘jewel in the IAPS crown’.
Our school year runs from September to the first week in July, with shorter breaks in December & April. All pupils study English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Classical Studies, Religious Studies, French, Kiswahili, Latin, Design Technology and ICT.
Parental expectations are often exceeded, with many of our children being awarded scholarships to their chosen secondary schools.
In recent years our pupils have achieved outstanding results and have gone on to:
- Eton, Cheltenham, Oundle & Marlborough College in the UK
- St Andrew’s, DSG, Hilton & Michaelhouse in South Africa
- Peponi Secondary School, Hillcrest Secondary School, St Andrew’s School, Turi in Kenya.
Our children are very successful in their chosen secondary schools, with many going on to become Head Boys & Girls or Heads of Houses.
At Pembroke House, we believe in the abilities of every one of our pupils. Our Learning Success department is fully integrated in the daily timetable of the school to support those children who need more help in specific areas of learning.
